About the Painting
Painted from life — January 2026
Honey Bear began as a simple studio companion — a plastic bear-shaped honey bottle catching the light and quietly demanding attention. Its familiar form and glowing amber color turned the ordinary into something unexpectedly charming and a little bit absurd.
Painted quickly from life, I leaned into bold shapes, exaggerated highlights, and loose brushwork to give the bear a sense of character. Warm yellows and oranges glow against a dark, moody background, while playful marks suggest reflections, stickiness, and just a hint of mischief. Precision takes a back seat to energy — the paint does the talking.
This small painting celebrates the joy of noticing — finding humor, warmth, and personality in the most unassuming objects. Honey Bear is sweet, slightly awkward, and unapologetically fun.
