About the Painting

Painted from life — January 2026

This painting was created as part of my daily painting practice, with the focus placed squarely on color harmony rather than detailed description. A simple bowl of mangos became an ideal subject for exploring the balance between warm and cool hues and the way color relationships can carry a composition.

I worked with a triadic palette — cool blue-greens in the bowl, purplish reds in the surrounding space, and warm oranges and yellows in the fruit. Rather than blending these colors into neutrality, I allowed them to sit boldly against one another, creating visual tension and energy. The subject remains familiar, but the experience is driven by color and paint.

Painted in oil on linen panel, this piece reflects my interest in modern impressionism and the expressive potential of color. Mangos in Harmony is less about the fruit itself and more about the pleasure of color working well together — a small, vivid exploration of balance, contrast, and cohesion.
