Red Wine with Cheese and Crackers

Painted during my January 2026 painting-a-day practice, this small still life depicts a simple evening arrangement: a glass of red wine alongside two slices of cheese and two flavored crackers.

The focus of the painting is not the objects themselves, but the relationships between light, color, and surface. The warm tones of the tabletop contrast with the cool blue background, while the transparency of the wine and the reflective glass introduce subtle shifts of light and color throughout the composition.

At this intimate scale, each brushstroke is deliberate and immediate, allowing the painting to feel both spontaneous and resolved. These daily works are quiet observations of ordinary moments—paintings meant to be lived with and discovered slowly.
